TOWNHOUSE  I  ORANJEZICHT

By simply swapping the dining and living areas the open plan kitchen now connects directly to a large dining table with fireplace at its head, frees up circulation and draws the eye out to the garden beyond.  The 12-seater reclaimed wood dining table, designed by Marvin Farr, hosts regular parties for all ages and is the social hub of the home.  The lounge/TV den occupies a more intimate space.

The wrought iron balustrade to stairs was replaced with a lightweight “wall” that cleverly conceals the TV, DVD and audio equipment and displays personal photos and objet’.  The side wall from main entrance and dining to TV den is clad in stained oriented strand board, providing a warm, natural, textured backdrop that changes dramatically from day to night.  It is both effective and extremely cost effective.

Floating in a wall of mirror is a spot lit driftwood piece called “The Circle of Life” by Plettenberg Bay artist Roger Trebilcock.
